Today
all lessors are going to require you to pay a bond. The
Residential Tenancies Act provides for a maximum bond equivalent
to four weeks rent. I cannot imagine any lessor in todays
climate who would be prepared to forego this right or even
lessen the amount of bond required, so be prepare to pay
an amount equivalent to four weeks rent as your bond at
the time you sign your lease.
All
bonds must be lodged with the RTA and you will receive an
acknowledgement of the lodgement directly from the RTA by
mail.
At
the termination of your lease a bond inspection will be
carried out by the agency and the bond dispersement will
be signed by both parties so that the bond can be reclaimed
from the RTA.
