Moving Home

When you are moving home there are many things to do to make sure your move goes as smoothly as possible. So here’s a convenient checklist. Use it to make your move problem-free.

The home you are leaving….
Organise final reading and/or accounts. Cancel deliveries or services from:

  • Telstra/Optus
  • Electricity
  • Gas
  • Milkman
  • Newsagent – paper deliveries
  • Baker
  • Pool maintenance man
  • Gardening service
  • Soft drink deliveries

The home you are moving to…
Arrange:

  • Telephone
  • Electricity
  • Gas
  • Garbage Collection (phone Cairns City Council to find out what day)

Change of Address
Arrange re-direction of your mail at the local Post Office. Be sure to notify the following of your change of address:

  • Bank/Building Society (Bank accounts/credit cards)
  • Insurance Companies
  • Department of Transport (boat, trailer, & car registration)
  • RACQ
  • Medicare
  • Your employer
  • Magazine and other subscriptions
  • Any clubs
  • Doctor and dentist
